Welcome to the WHY YOU LIKE IT Playlist page!

Here is found an ever-growing  set of playlists that reflect and enhance the content of WHY YOU LIKE IT. The playlists are divided by chapter / interlude and include collection of songs and works that in various way form an audio counterpart to the written discussion.

Importantly, in order to hear these playlists, you will need to have a Pandora Premium account. If you have one, and are signed in to Pandora, you can hear any playlist simply by clicking “Play”. If you don’t, you can sign up directly from the Pandora playlist page—with a free 60-day trial subscription offer available right on the screen!

Initially, the playlists on this page will consist of songs / works that directly reflect distinct dimensions of the book’s text: specifically, the “Top 10 Touchstones” and “Genotype Hits” associated with Chapters 9 to 15. Coming soon will be playlists that in various ways reflect the topics and sub-topics associated with the music parameter chapters (Chapters 3-7) and the relevant extra-musical interludes (Interludes C and D).

But in time we also plan to include user-submitted Pandora-hosted playlists on any and every  musical topic that you find interesting: “Seminal Punk Rock Songs”, “Best of 1990s Trance”, “Hard Bop Gems”, “Pakistani Folk Songs”, “19th Century Lieder Masterworks” (to offer some random ideas), you name it. You can submit the links on our Contact page, and we’ll upload them as soon as possible. We’ll likewise include a “Comment Forum”, where you can share your thoughts and ideas about the submitted playlists.
